The Spirit Lifters Kindness Network's purpose is to foster a healthy spirit in people who face a difficult life challenge. SLKN promotes healthy living by comforting and encouraging people to embrace the vital energy forces of Strength, Courage, Love, and Harmony. This is accomplished by behavioral education programs and the distribution of a uniquely created stuffed animal named the
Cigam Tirips, The Magic Spirit Bear.
The Spirit Lifters Kindness Network is a private project of Dr. Jerry Poore.
It is a worldwide endeavor to enrich the lives of people and communities everywhere.
SLKN Facts:
SLKN is funded by private contributions and by the sale of spirit lifting merchandise such as the Cigam Tirips Spirit Bear and companion products and services.
SLKN is staffed on a voluntary basis by the Jerry Poore family and friends. All operating expenses are donated by the staff or from donations and sale of products.
SLKN's Dr. Jerry Poore, of Tucson, Arizona, and his family establish the idea of helping others with the creation of the Magic Spirit Bear and named him Cigam Tirips. (Magic Spirit spelled backwards.) It is an unincorporated entity having the name of The Spirit Lifters Kindness Network.
SLKN's operating focus is concentrated in the three general areas of its Spirit Bear Bank, Home Parties, and ECommerce. SBKN's Spirit Bear Bank provides the Cigam Tirips Spirit Bear to care giving organizations and any people facing life limiting circumstances. Care giving organizations use SLKN's spirit lifting products to further their therapeutic efforts for use within their programs to lift the spirits and encourage their constituents. SLKN's unique interactive marketing are designed to take spirit-lifting to a person-to-person grass roots level. SBKN's ECommerce includes efforts in utilizing the technology of the world-wide-web in furthering a branching out to a worldwide network.
SBKN provides community outreach through various life enriching support groups, the distribution of the Cigam Tirips Spirit Bear, fund raising charity golf tournaments, educational service through public workshops, seminars, and inspirational talks, through continued research seeking comforting life enrichment ideas, services, and products, and write articles and papers relevant to spirit lifting, comfort, hope, encouragement and inspiration.
SLKN has distributed over 10,000 Spirit Bears to people in the USA, Sweden, England, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Syria, and France. Recipients include hospice organizations, hospitals, substance abuse recovery programs, funeral homes, business corporations, assisted living and end-of-life care institutions, child neglect and abuse groups, natural disaster relief, school children and church groups, other care giving organizations, and the general public.
SLKN's criteria for distribution of the Spirit Bear are: Anyone can buy a bear for themselves or for someone else they would like to comfort or encourage; The bears are offered with the idea that they will be given as a gift of spirit lifting; An emphasis must be given to the unique meaning and purpose of the Spirit Bear as a spirit lifter rather than just a stuffed animal or toy, including its connection to the Kermode Bear, an endangered species of Black Bears; People receiving the bears must know that there is a special purpose beyond the simple receipt of a bear and that they have been connected to others who care and may have similar circumstances; in effect they should feel very special, comforted, and encouraged; The Cigam Tirips Spirit Bear is for harmony and spirit lifting of the world?s population.
SLKN desires to establish a Spirit Lifters Kindness annual award for excellence that honors individuals and organizations for their spirit lifting contributions toward promoting and utilizing the vital energy forces of Strength, Courage, Love, and Harmony. A similar award was presented to John F. Kelly, CEO of Alaska Airlines in 2000, and in 2001 Robert Kennedy, Jr. and Scott Mindrum This tradition will be continued in 2011 with the announcement, in November, of the Spirit Lifers Humanitarian Achievement Award.
